| Random Stone- stone sorted and selected for size, shape and colour. Split Random Stone- random stone split to expose its internal colour and texture and to produce a better-shaped stone. Split Block Stone- slabs of stone split and cropped into rectangular blocks of uniform thickness but varying heights and lengths. The stone exhibits a warm and appealing range of colours including off white, light grey, buff, ochre, sienna, mauve and burgundy. The sandstone is from the Devonian - Carboniferous geological age and has a strong and durable fabric due to post-depositional processes causing recrystallisation and locking of the quartz grains. The dominant quartz-mica mineral assemblage is a very stable one. Unconfined Compressive Strength - 75 Mpa Dry Density - 2.5 t/m3 Weathering (Resistance to salt attack, 15 cycles) - 1.5% loss Skid Resistance (Sawn surface) - Dry 87, Wet 81 (ARRB Classification, above 70 - excellent) |
